Coaching For All Age Groups

Coaching is now recognised as an integral part of the bowling scene, and since 1994 many new bowlers have been introduced to the game with the assistance of the British Crown Green Coaching Scheme. (B.C.G.C.S.).

The functions of the B.C.G.C.S. consist of coaching new members at Club level, coaching people with disabilities, and an extensive programme of coaching juniors and junior County teams.

Facilities are also available for full day coaching sessions at individual Clubs, with video recordings of delivery action played back to pupils, and qualified coaches giving remedial advice where necessary. The fee for each pupil for these sessions is £10.00 each.

Qualified Bowls Coaches

To accommodate anyone wishing to become a qualified bowls coach, the B.C.G.C.S. have a programme of organised training sessions.

The first stage is to qualify as an instructor, a qualification that enables the coaching of beginners from a specially produced syllabus and guidelines manual.

The second stage in becoming a "Bowls Coach" requires more training, and assessment usually takes two to three years.

Should you wish to know more about coaching in general, or on how to become a trained Instructor/Coach, please contact the British Crown Green National Coaching Administrator:
