Delete the existing Bye Law and replace with the following:

1.      Anybody having any supervisory duties of junior bowlers must have a valid   Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure, be Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) registered and have attended a Sports Coach UK workshop ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’.  Details of the Disclosure scheme and Sports Coach UK workshop can be obtained from your County Child Protection Officer, County Signatory, County Secretary or the BCGBA Child Protection Officer (phone number of the latter in the BCGBA Handbook).

2.      It is mandatory that Associations and Leagues that allow children to compete must appoint a Child Protection Officer, as must County Associations and the BCGBA.  Clubs that have junior members must also appoint either a Welfare Officer and/or a Child Protection Officer.  Welfare Officers and Child Protection Officers should attend a ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ workshop.

3.      To ensure smooth processing of CRB Disclosure and ISA registration each County Association must appoint a Countersignatory.  They may support that official with as many verifiers as deemed necessary.

4.      Any allegations or suspicions of Abuse to a Child or Vulnerable Person should be reported to your Association or League Child Protection Officer who will refer it to the County Child Protection Officer and then to the BCGBA Child Protection Officer within 48 hours.  Records must be kept of all allegations or suspicions.

5.      BCGBA has a Child Protection Policy which can be found at www.crowngreenbowls.org.  It is based on the Joint Panel for the Protection of Children and the Vulnerable in Bowls (www.bowlschildprotect.org.uk).

6.      Every Person Matters.  Each Club has a responsibility to look after its members and visitors and should, therefore, appoint a Welfare Officer.

7.      Each Club must have a First Aid Kit which is easily accessible to all.   It should also have an Accident Book to record any incidents that may take place.
